There will be a demonstration and taster session in the Martial Arts Room on Level 1 of the Students' Union on Tuesday 4 October, 18:30 - 20:00.
All welcome!

BAF Summer School 2015

Booking is now open for this year's BAF Summer School at the University of Chester, 1-8 August.

Guest instructor Takeshi Kanazawa shihan (7th Dan) from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, as well as our own Kanetsuka shihan (8th Dan) and BAF and SAF senior instructors..

Successful gradings in Oxford, 7 February

We are delighted to report that Neil Hamilton-Fairley, Philip Wiles and Simon Faverio Bravo all passed their 6th Kyu grading examination at the weekend. Congratulations!

Grading class in Oxford, 7 February 2015

After the success of the joint grading class in Oxford last year, we have agreed to repeat this again this year.

Peter Megann (6th Dan, BAF Shidoin) and Southampton Aikikai Chief Instructor Alex Megann (5th Dan, BAF Shidoin) will be leading the class and the examination.

It will be held at the Oxford University Dojo, Oxford University Sports Centre, Iffley Road, Oxford OX4 1EQ

Saturday 7 February 2015, 10 am - 12.30 pm

Grading examination for 6th-4th Kyu will be held. If you would like to grade, let Alex know in advance. Please bring your BAF book and your grading form.

Classes over the Christmas break, 2014

We are fast approaching the end of the University term, so here are the details of classes over the next month or so.

  • Tuesday 9 December: Class starting at 6.30 pm as usual, but finishing early so we can go to Baan Thai for our Christmas meal
  • Thursday 11 December: Class 7.30-8.30 am as usual
  • Friday 12 December: Class 5.00-6.30 pm as usual

  • Tuesday 16 December: Class 6.30-7.45 pm
  • Thursday 18 December: No class
  • Friday 19 December: No class

  • Tuesday 6 January: Class 6.30-8.00 pm as usual

Bunfight, September 2014

George will be in charge of the Aikido Club stand at the Bunfight on Wednesday 24 September in the Jubilee Sports Hall from 9 until 5. Come and talk to our students about aikido and the club!

Summer schedule 2014

There will be two more Tuesday evening classes before the summer break, on 29 July and 5 August, both 6:00 - 7.45 pm (note the earlier starting time for both classes).

We will reconvene on Tuesday 2 September. Hope to see you soon!
